Job Description
Broadcom’s Mainframe Software Division (MSD) is looking for a software engineer with a passion for building high quality applications using agile practices to join our development team. Mainframe systems are at the heart of the digital economy, with 80% of the world’s structured corporate data residing or originating on mainframes, and 55% of all enterprise applications hitting the mainframe to complete transactions. Our industry-leading products are critical to many Fortune 1000 companies.
Education & Eligibility Criteria
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or global equivalent.
- 0-2 years of experience in designing, developing, and maintaining software systems
Roles and Responsibilities
- In collaboration with more senior team members, write, test, and maintain code for mainframe applications, ensuring code quality, reliability, and performance
- Participate in code reviews, providing/receiving constructive feedback to enhance code readability, maintainability, and adherence to best practices
- Work closely with product owners and stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications
- Follow Agile development methodologies, actively participating in sprint planning, stand-up meetings, and retrospectives
Skills & Qualification
- Experience in C and Python
- Knowledge of software testing principles and experience in developing testable code
- Experience with automated test suites
- Interest to learn mainframe specific and proprietary languages
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and experience working in Agile teams
- Work closely with clients to resolve issues as well as develop & validate new features
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug and troubleshoot software issues
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Self-motivated and proactive, with a passion for learning and staying updated on the latest industry trends
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality results within defined timelines.
- Experience with Mainframe Networking Concepts
- Experience with TypeScript & React
- Understanding of DevOps principles and experience with CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with version control systems, such as Git or Endevor
