Job Description
Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) is currently seeking TWO full-time Computer Engineers/Electronics Engineers/General Engineers to serve as a full time Agile Software Engineer (009770311M, 009770991M) providing software and firmware engineering for the Long Range Stand-Off Cruise Missile, as applied to the design, testing and operations of the assigned program in the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) at the Air-Delivered Capabilities Directorate Eglin Air Force Base in FL.
Education & Eligibility Criteria
To qualify as an engineer, employee must meet the education and specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards, Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Professional and Scientific Positions
Roles and Responsibilities
• Perform technical and program management support in the execution of Agile and DSO software development and fielding
• Participate and provide feedback in design reviews & code reviews
• Assess software development progress, issues, and requirements traceability
• Provide technology recommendations, risk assessments, trade studies, analyses, and implementation techniques for the most efficient solution to meet the program needs
• Research and respond to software architecture technical design and implementation questions
• Oversee and support software testing at government and contractor facilities.
• Coordinate government and contractor stakeholders as part of an Agile/Lean software development enterprise.
• Represents Software IPT at program office Configuration Control Boards.
Skills & Qualification
• Management of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) using Agile project management principle and practices.
• Evaluation and design of large, complex software architecture using Unified Modeling Language (UML) and/or Systems Modeling Language (SysML).
• Software coding and developing software for either large enterprise information systems or complex electrical mechanical systems using contemporary software languages (e.g. C/C++, Python, FORTRAN, C#, Java, Ada).
• Real-time systems and software design and development principles
• Evaluation and design of Hardware Description Languages (e.g., VHDL, Verilog) residing on Complex Programmable Logic Devices (CPLD)
• DevSecOps (DSO) pipeline design, development, and use for the delivery of software applications
• Systems and Software Engineering experience with weapon systems
• Experience preparing technical reports
• Nuclear weapon experience highly desired
